Billabong Pro Update: Competition Again Postponed Due To Small Surf

Friday, October 8, 2004 (Mundaka, Euskadi, Spain) The Billabong Pro was again postponed this morning due to small surf at Mundaka. With a generous waiting period running all the way through until October 16th and only two full days required to complete the US$260,000 event, contest director Craig Sage opted to hold off for more favorable conditions. Round three of the Foster’s men’s ASP World Championship Tournament (WCT) will meet again tomorrow at 9am (local time).

Small 1-2 ft (0.5m) waves were on offer at Mundaka. Many contestants headed to nearby Bakio beach for a free-surf, while others headed across the French border and returned to fun beach break conditions at Hossegor.

With the Guggenheim Museum also nearby in Bilbao, as well as so many other beautiful sights to soak up in the Basque countryside, none could complain about having a day to relax and enjoy the area.

The Billabong Pro will host a unique acoustic live concert of Donavon Frankenreiter tonight. The Californian surfer/musician (who plays with Jack Johnson) has been touring throughout Europe and happily scheduled Mundaka in. More info
