Boost Mobile Pro To Start Today At Lowers

The Boost Mobile Pro of Surf Presented by Quiksilver is scheduled to commence Wednesday September 15th. Event #7 on the Foster’s men’s ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) will take place at the famed Lower Trestles, with round one action expected to kick off around 8am (local time).

The third annual Boost Mobile Pro of Surf Presented by Quiksilver showcases the top 45 professional surfers in the world, plus three wildcard contestants, and is the only WCT event held in North America. Contest organizers last week locked in competition days beginning tomorrow, which follow on the 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th.

Round one features all surfers in three-man, non-elimination heats. Winners advance directly into round three, while second and third place getters are relegated to the sudden death ‘losers’ round.

Reigning two-time world champion and current ratings leader Andy Irons (Kauai, HAW) heads up tomorrow’s most stacked heat, against defending event winner Richie Lovett (Manly, AUS) and highly touted Californian wildcard Dane Reynolds. This epic clash is sure to highlight some of amazing performances the US$260,000 event promises to deliver.

The following match, six-time world champ Kelly Slater (FL, USA) meets Paulo Moura (BRA) and former world #2 wildcard Rob Machado (CA, USA). Then 2001 world champ and current ratings runner-up CJ Hobgood (FL, USA) faces Californian Pat O’Connell and third wildcard, Hawaii’s rising star Jamie O’Brien.
