Carlsbad, CA. Pro Surfer Josh Buran Injured At Black’s Beach
Just a few days ago in the parking lot at Blacks Beach in San Diego, a soon-to-be-naked man asked me if I felt safe without lifeguards patrolling the beach. "UIhh, yeah I guess," I mumbled while struggling to get out of my wetsuit. The it dawned on me: there aren't any lifeguards at San Diego County's most treacherous surf spot. So no, Mr. Soon-To-Be-Naked man, I don't feel safe without a lifeguard on the beach at Blacks.
Read below about Carlsbad ripper Josh Buran who was found floating face down in the water after his board hit him in the chin. He's lucky someone knew CPR and that there was a cell phone on the beach to call 911… In my opinion the city of San Diego has to put lifeguards down there!—JC

Josh Buran, 26, was surfing with friends about noon when he fell and the board struck him in the chin, authorities said. Fellow surfers noted he was acting strange after he was hit and recommended he go to shore, but Buran kept surfing, said San Diego lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum.
About an hour later, a friend found him face down in the water with part of his body still on the board. CPR was performed in the water, he was brought to shore and 911 was called, Lerum said.
Lifeguards tried to stabilize the surfer, who was in and out of consciousness, before he was handed off to paramedics, Lerum said. Buran was taken to the hospital to be treated for a head injury and hypothermia.
