Dane and Jordy confirmed for Quik Pro, Swell coming

With minimal swell lapping up against French breasts on the French beaches this morning, day one of the Quik Pro France has been called a lay-day. This was expected, as the outlook for swell in the coming days looks quite good.

And now for something I didn’t actually expect:

Dane Reynolds is in France.
to surf.
in a contest.

Yup, you can put him back on your fantasy team now, Dane sightings around Southern France have been confirmed (by twitter. i hate myself too, don’t worry) and it appears as though Mr. Reynolds is ready to return to his spot under the microscope.

Fellow rib-injury enthusiast Jordy Smith will also be competing after a nasty dislocation sidelined him during the Billabong Pro Tahiti last month.

A series of solid swells are marching towards Europe as we speak, so expect the competition to get underway very soon, first call is at 7:45am local time, which is about 10:45pm tonight if you’re on the west coast. Dane will be in heat 4 up against title-hopeful Owen Wright and the borderline insane Chris Davo.

*Local young-gun Marc Lacomare has secured one of the wildcards.
