Day Three At The Billabong ISA World Games With Team USA

PacSun USA Surf Team Advances Three Of Four Open Men In Qualifying Rounds At 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games

Fourth athlete struck down with stomach bug and knocked in to Repercharge Round as pounding surf continues in Punta Hermosa

Punta Hermosa, Peru – Saturday, October 23, 2010 – The PacSun USA Surf Team Open Men competed in day three at the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in Punta Hermosa, Peru. Ben Bourgeois, Mike Losness, and Micah Byrne all advanced into Qualifying Round Three. Unfortunately, young Trevor Thornton came down with a stomach sickness over night, finished fourth in his heat, and was sent into the Repercharge Round Four. Thornton, who has been turning heads all week with amazing quickness and new school moves, was feeling better this morning. And, with an extra off day to recover, is expected to be back in top form later this week.

Due to continued large surf, today’s scheduled Longboard and Women’s competition has been postponed until tomorrow as Men’s Reperchage Rounds Two and Three, alone, will run on the Caballeros podium. The swell is expected to drop and clean up slowly, beginning today.

“We’re still in good shape and we look forward to improving conditions in the next couple of days,” said Ian Cairns, Head Coach of the PacSun USA Surf Team. “Trevor’s sickness was unfortunate. But we’re confident he’ll be back and remain a force to be reckoned with in this event.”
