DVS Shoe Company is happy to announce that they have re-signed Granger Larsen to a new contract, his first as a professional, through 2011. Larsen was one of the hottest amateur prospects coming out of America the last few years and it was never more evident than his performance and domination at the 2008 NSSA Nationals. From Lower Trestles, Granger headed straight to J-Bay, South Africa for his first taste of the WCT in the Billabong Pro. Granger advanced through the trials and into the main event, eventually finishing =33rd to 3X World Champ, Andy Irons.
"We couldn't be more stoked to have Granger on the DVS team," said Brandy Faber Surf Brand Manager for DVS. "He has a big future ahead of him, his youth and talent are a nice addition to our existing team of Jordy Smith, Cory Lopez, Dean Morrison, Chris Ward and Gabe Kling.
Leaving the amateur ranks behind, Granger is now focused on his ultimate goal of one day joining his DVS teammates on the WCT Elite Tour. Granger moved one step closer to that goal by making the finals by finishing 3rd at the WQS 4*Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz, California in late October. "I'd be super stoked to make the CT sooner then later!" Granger said. That quest will all start when he hits the ASP's WQS and Pro Junior circuits in 2009. "I'm also going to focus on some photo trips and some upcoming video projects," Larsen added.
