How Leila Hurst, Bruna Schmitz, Quincy Davis and Brianna Cope make the most of a Southern California flat spell

September is approaching and summer is winding down. But Southern California isn’t free yet of those summer flat spells, and flat spells can drive a surfer mad.

Unless you figure out how to get your kicks in others ways. Take, for instance, pro surfers Bruna Schmitz, Leila Hurst, Quincy Davis and Brianna Cope. Not to be defeated by the ocean’s whims, the girls hit Carlsbad Lagoon and take advantage of a pile of free water toys and a new MasterCraft boat.

From rafts to surfboards, boogie boards and even plywood signs, the girls wakesurf everything they can find. Flat days are all about making your own fun, and these ladies show they don’t always need swell to have fun.
