Jetty Surf Pro Junior – World’s Best Junior Surfers On Fire At Jan Juc Beach.

In scorching hot 40 degree temperatures the top Australian and New Zealandsurfers were on fire in the Jetty Surf Pro Junior ripping up good clean fun* to 3/4 metre waves at Jan Juc Beach.

Early round one standout heat winners included Gabe Walker Bryon Bay NSW(19.95), Mitch O’Grady Scotts Head NSW(19.50), Joel Haddon Forrester NSW(17.00), Luke Thompson Sunshine Coast Qld (17.85), Jay Levitt Gold CoastQld (17.00) and Mark Visser Sunshine Coast Qld (16.85). Visser summed upthe early round surf strategy. “I waited for three set waves, snapped offbig turns in the fun waves and won my heat”.

Local Victorian surfers roasted the competition with Simon Grayling TorquayVic.(19.00), Simon Collier Ocean Grove (16.75) and Tim Hawken Torquay Vic(20.15) who all turned up the heat to win and progress into the nextround.

For Simon Collier who got through two rounds today it was fantastic but herealizes the task gets tougher tomorrow with the higher seeded round threesurfers.” It’s great to progress today, but round three will be tough,there’s some excellent surfers coming up and I’ll really have to surf at mybest if I’m to keep progressing”

In the 160 strong field the seeded surfers have hit the water in secondround clashes with Ben Dunn Taree NSW (21.25) posting the highest score ofthe day and absolutely frying his competitors as the youngest surfer in theJetty Surf Pro Junior. Jay Quinn Gisbourne NZ was in explosive form in thebeach breaks as was Victorian seed Steve Noble Cape Paterson Vic.(19.40)who blitzed his heat.

Day two of the Jetty Surf Pro Junior will hopefully be at Bells Beach withan expected increase in swell.
