DVS “Youth Brigade leader, Kekoa Bacalso crowned 2005 World Pro Junior Champion. The Billabong World Junior held at Narrabeen, Australia the first week of every New Year to crown the previous years best Pro Junior (19 & under) wrapped up yesterday in shifty, peaky 3-4 ft. conditions. While most competitors favored going right on the final day, Bacalso used patience and his powerful backhand attack to score big on the lefts down the beach. “I’m sooo stoked! Bacalso said. I’ve been training hard, staying focused, not partying and it paid of, Bacalso added.
Bacalso has had a stellar Junior career with back-to-back Lost Pro Junior wins at Huntington Beach, Ca. in 2002 and 2003. The Billabong Junior Pro in Memory of Ronnie Burns at Kewalo Basin in 2004 and now the World Junior Title in 2005.
Bacalso carved his name into the Championship trophy next to past World Junior Champions: Andy Irons, Joel Parkinson, Pedro Henrique and Adriano de Souza whom have all made the WCT leap and just a little bit more.
