ONOLUA BAY, Hawaii (Monday, December 8, 2008) – Event organizers have called a lay day today for the Billabong Pro Maui, citing small surf in the one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) range as the primary reason.

Event No. 8 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women's World Tour, the Billabong Pro Maui caps off this season's Dream Tour and event organizers and officials are patiently waiting for the world-famous Honolua Bay to turn on.

"We're obviously off today as the Bay is virtually flat," Dino Andino, Billabong Pro Maui Contest Director, said. "That being said, it's only Day 1 of the waiting period and we're anticipating a fetch of swell to come through mid-week. We'll just be monitoring the winds to see what happens."

Event organizers will convene tomorrow at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning for a possible 8am start.

The waiting period for the Billabong Pro Maui will run from December 8 – 20, 2008.
