Like many well-rounded surf stars of this generation, Bali’s Lee Wilson is at a crossroads in his career. While he’s talented enough to take the trodden path of competitive surfing, he also feels a pull to follow his passions on the artistic side of things.
A 2-time Indonesian Surf Champion, Lee has already had quite a bit of success in competition. He recently spoke with Royale Video Magazine about his future plans to pursue his passion for art rather than competitive surfing. And meanwhile, Wilson’s paintings have received some recent acclaim, and a few have landed themselves on a line of t-shirts at Kuta Beach’s DRIFTER surf shop.
Now, only weeks after that video was released, Lee has just won the 2012 Rip Curl Pro Mentawai at Macaronis over friend Garut Widiarta. So much for walking away from competition eh, Lee?
