How do you like coming over here to Huntington Beach?
It’s fun. I’ve been coming here since I was twelve. It’s the same every year, it’s kinda fun to get away from home every now and then.
What do you like to do when you’re at home when you’re not surfing?
Hang out, fishing, skateboarding, cruse with my friends, play music.
Who are some of the Hawaiian guys that you look up to?
Shane, Kalani, Sunny, who’s winning the world title.
What’s your hometown break? Where do you surf a lot?
I surf a lot at this place called Barber’s Point. It’s the worst wave on the island, but it’s good training.
What are your plans for the future?
Keep going, try to get as many shots as I can, get as much exposure as possible, make my sponsors stoked on me. Basically just hang out and be a cool guy.
Do you find it hard being based out of Hawaii to go to all the contests, and be in the middle of everything?
Yeah, a lot of the industry is based here in California. Being in Hawaii, it’s hard to get in touch with sponsors and see them, so they can check up on how you’re doing. It’s kind of hard because you’re kind of out of the media until the wintertime, and when the wintertime comes, all the big guys are here. You have to keep trying to get through.
Do you get pumped when you come to these contests and you see all the people and stuff? Does it make you want to strive more?
Yeah, actually it does. It makes you want to go bigger and harder so people would recognize me¿maybe get more exposure that way.
I know I Kind of already asked this, but when it’s flat, how do you stay sane?
Watch movies, train by doing a lot of running, swimming at my grandma’s pool, skateboarding¿try not to lose your mind when there’s no waves. Going to clubs at night sometimes.
So you like to skate a lot?
I try to. I’m not too good at it. A lot of my friends are really good so I hang out with them and try to learn from them.
