Matix Clothing is proud to announce that they have partnered with Sun Diego Boardshops as the headline sponsor of the 2005 Pro-Am Surf Series. Matix will sponsor the second half of this year’s series and has already committed to the 2005-2006 season. “Matix is really stoked to be involved with such a core surf series, said Brandy Faber, Matix surf brand manager. He added, “We are coming in with four events left in the season and are already drawing up plans to make the Matix/Sun Diego Pro/Am Surf Series bigger and better for 2006! The surf series consists of seven amateur divisions, Pro Junior, Airshow and Pro/Am divisions. “We’re super stoked to have Matix supporting the contests and look forward to an exciting partnership, said Surf Series contest director, Marc Kater. “In the short time that Matix has been onboard, they have already brought so much energy to the table.

Matix Pros Gabe Kling and Anthony Petruso just returned with successful contest results from the WQS 5-Star Hang Loose Pro, which took place on the beautiful island, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. Surf for the event ranged from 2-6ft. and was mostly peaky, hollow, offshore tubes. Kling finished =17th with 900 points going towards his 2006 WCT qualifying efforts. Petruso, who is on the come back trail after 2003 re-constructive knee surgery, had his best result since that time, finishing =37th with 623 points next to his name. After the first two WQS events in the 2005 season, Kling sits 11th while Petruso sits at 32nd on the ratings.
