Mundaka Billabong Pro Still On Hold

Sunday, October 10, 2004 (Bakio, Euskadi, Spain) The Billabong Pro continued its waiting game today at Bakio beach, where the US$260,000 event was again postponed. Organizers relocated with the hope an increasing swell would be available, but unfortunately only strong winds presented themselves. Round three of the Foster’s men’s ASP World Championship Tournament (WCT) remains on standby and will run as soon as more favorable conditions arrive.

Scores of local enthusiastic came out to see their favorite pro surfers, and utilized the opportunity to pose for photos and get their autographs. Unfortunately a complete lack of surf ruled out the option of even an Expression Session to entertain he crowd with.

Contest director Craig Sage explained; “The weather patterns are looking promising for later in the week, and we still have plenty of time. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t do anything today, with the crowd support here at Bakio, but you need waves to surf on.

Round three heats are listed below. Another decision will be made tomorrow by 8am.
