New short film shows just how hard it is to surf the Great Lakes

Being a Great Lakes surfer is no easy pursuit. It’s cold, it’s windy, it’s inconsistent, it’s nearly unpredictable and most of the time it’s usually not as good as you hoped it would be.

But that’s not how a Great Lakes surfer sees it. To quote Surf The Greats founder Antonio Leonard, “There’s no bad days.”

In this new short film, “On Days Like This We Must Surf”, director Jake Kovnat sheds a little light on Peruvian Larry Cavero and how he has been a steward for the blossoming Toronto surf scene.

With unmatched dedication, they paddle out on most days ocean surfers wouldn’t even bat an eye at. And they certainly know how to enjoy whatever their body of water can throw at them.
