Reef Donates Shoes To United Way Of Puerto Rico

San Diego, CA (March 15, 2000) — Reef recently donated more than 850 pairs of shoes valued at 29,570 dollars (U.S.) to the United Way Foundation of Puerto Rico. The donation was made to support the efforts of the United Way and will be distributed through several agencies that participate in community service.

“Puerto Rico has always supported us in our business and lifestyle,” says Fernando Aguerre, co-founder of Reef. “It was our turn to give a little back.”

The footwear donated will be used to outfit people in homeless shelters, women and children of abuse shelters, vocational development programs, and substance abuse services. “Be assured that this donation is already making a positive impact on the individual lives of the clientele of the organizations,” says Ivonne Bernard, a coordinator for Gifts in Kind of the United Way.

Reef has made several significant donations in the past to causes including a hurricane relief effort in Honduras, a “love box” of 5000 pairs of shoes to Kosovo refugees, domestic anti-drug abuse programs such as WRAD (Wave Riders Against Drugs), the Surfrider Foundation, Challenged Athletes Fund, and the Salvation Army.
