Rip Curl Congratulates Hawaiian Pancho Sullivan: 2007 ASP World #7

Costa Mesa, CA (December 20, 1007): Hawaiian superhero, Pancho Sullivan, continues to pad his legendary legacy. Coming into the Billabong Pro Pipeline Masters ranked 12th, Pancho powered his way to an impressive 3rd place finish to leap frog 5 spots, finishing 2007 as #7 in the world!!!

Slightly over 2 years ago, Pancho was ranked in the high 30s of the WQS heading into the Triple Crown, sitting on the outskirts of Championship Tour qualification. A courageous performance at the 2005 OP Pro Haleiwa earned Panch a victory and slot on the 2006 WCT.

Although his first year on tour was an adjustment process for the regularfoot thoroughbred, Pancho roared back in 2007 to not only crack the top ten but climb 20 spots to finish #7!

“It’s incredibly rewarding to see Pancho have this kind of success at the top tier of competition, stated Rip Curl USA Marketing Director, Marty Thomas. “We’ve supported Pancho for well over 15 years, and to watch him achieve his goals on all levels throughout his career shows his versatility as a professional surfer and person.

Aside from his 3rd place finish at the Pipeline Masters, Pancho’s other major 2007 highlight was a runner-up finish at the Boost Mobile Pro of Surf to 8x ASP World Champ Kelly Slater at Lower Trestles. Undoubtedly this feat deserves the utmost consideration for the ASP 2007 ‘Most Improved Award’; however, Pancho is already setting his eyes on ’08.

“Yeah, I’m incredibly stoked with the way this year has gone for me,” Panch stated. “I’ll be sticking to my training regimen this off season, working on my equipment, and aiming to improve next year!”

An inspiration to many, a friend to all, and a true ambassador of Aloha, Rip Curl salutes and congratulates Pancho on an incredible 2007 year.
