Rip Curl Gathers Funds For Santana High

CARLSBAD, CA (April 12, 2001) ¿ Rip Curl, one of the top apparel, wetsuit, and accessories manufacturers in the active lifestyle industry, recently donated 600 dollars collected in a raffle to Santana High School in Santee, site of the March 5 shootings.

The Carlsbad-based company, a sponsor of the Interscholastic Surfing Federation (ISF), held a raffle at two recent ISA events in Carlsbad and Salt Creek, with the proceeds going to a trust fund for the families of the victims.

People were more than happy to donate for such a good cause ¿- a tragic and senseless act that resulted in such a loss for the community.”

Donations were collected by Rip Curl at two ISF contests by selling raffle tickets at the California High Surf Team Championships March 17 and 18 at Oceanside Harbor, and again on March 24 and 25 at the Junior High School Interscholastic Federation Competition at Salt Creek at Dana Point.

“We are pleased that we were able to take our involvement with the ISF to the level of helping out those in need, and those participating in the contests helped out by buying raffle tickets,” says Sampson.

The ISF provides a platform for area high and junior high schools to compete against each other, providing a place for younger kids that are just starting out surfing to compete.
