Clean but small surf got the remaining round of 48 heats into their wetsuits bright and early this morning in Brazil. With a large swell predicted to hit the beach at Imbituba by friday evening, contest organizers were content to finish the second round and have the man-on-man round of 24 set to go.
Miguel Pupo was the standout among the 4 heats run today. The young Brazzo goofyfoot scored a 9.57 for a right that he was able to destroy with spider-monkey-like precision. He then backed it up with a high 7, giving him 17.40 points – the highest heat total of the day and the second highest to Yadin Nicol’s 18 points for best heat score of the event.
