Mike Gilligan, a fifteen-year industry veteran, has been promoted to National Sales Manager of Rusty Apparel and Surfboards.
Gilligan, who has worked for Rusty Apparel since its inception in 1985, was a sales rep in California prior to his promotion. At his new position, Gilligan will manage the domestic sales staff, coordinate industry trade show, and play an active role in the brand’s merchandising activities.
In addition to his tenure at Rusty, Gilligan also co-found the PSAA surfing tour along with Joey Buran, and helped develop Arnette into a top-selling eyewear line at specialty shops worldwide.
“We are excited to promote Mike to his new position, recognizing his past performance, strong retail relationships, connection to our core market, and passion for the Rusty brand,” says Rusty Preisendorfer.
In other related brand news, David Speir, an industry sales rep, surf team manager, and former pro surfer, has been appointed sales rep for Rusty Apparel and Surfboards in Florida.
Speir, a Florida native and WQS tour veteran, joins Rusty from Billabong and Oakley, where he recently held sales and team manager positions.
“Adding someone of David’s caliber and influence to our sales team is a real plus as our brand continues to grow in this market,” says Gilligan. “David’s presence in the water, relationships with the Florida retailers, and his connection with the local kids is a strong combination.” Speir will be responsible for apparel and surfboard sales throughout Florida.
