Sanoe Lake Wins Award From Literature Council

(LA JOLLA, Calif.) — Jet Set is proud to announce that the Children’s Literature Council of Southern California honored surfer, actress, and author Sanoe Lake, along with Steven Jarrett, the “Outstanding Informational Book for Teens Award for 2006 for their book Surfer Girl: A Guide to the Surfing Life.

(Lake says, I wrote this book with hopes of it being extremely informative but fun to read at the same time. She continues, “I’m really happy with the way it turned out and very honored for this recognition.

(Published by Little Brown, Surfer Girl has also been reviewed as a recommended read by Booklist and the School Library Journal for the book’s comprehensive and thoughtful chapters written in a tone that draws teens in.

(As quoted from the book, Lake eloquently sums up surfing’s appeal, “There aren’t too many other sports that allow such simultaneous beauty, grace, and power. I think this is why (it) appeals to girls so much.”

(The Children’s Literature Council of Southern California is a non-profit organization that promotes greater interest in literature for children and young people and encourages excellence in the production and selection of books in that field.
