SUP World Tour Set To Kickoff

Coming Down To The Wire
Tension is mounting here on the North Shore of Oahu, as athletes ready themselves for one of the most exciting showdowns of the Stand Up World Tour: the Sunset Beach Pro, presented by Turtle Bay Resort. Athletes from across 12 Nations will be taking part, not to mention a strong local contingent that will be looking to stake their claim here at Sunset Beach: you can check out the action live at, and on OC16 here in Hawaii as it unfolds for Stop #1 of the 2011 Stand Up World Tour.

Looking at the forecast, it looks likely that the Trials will commence on Sunday, with Tuesday looking like the most favorable day for the main event, with a large, long period swell being forecast – keep an eye on for the latest updates.

Da Hui Steps Up
There is perhaps no clothing brand that has more of a connection to Sunset Beach than Da Hui. Built on the traditions of Hawaiian Surfing Da Hui and its recognizable logo has become synonymous with Hawaii’s North Shore, and we are proud to have them as a partner for the 2011 edition of the Sunset Beach Pro. Building from their initial partnership in 2010 and looking towards a more involved partnership moving forward, the Stand Up World Tour is excited to have Da Hui as a partner for this unique event.

Turtle Bay Expression Session
On Saturday 5th February, tomorrow, Turtle Bay Resort will be hosting a Champion’s exhibition, featuring amongst the principal Contenders of the Stand Up World Tour: taking place in the Resort just a stone’s throw from the bar aptly named Hang Ten, the Turtle Bay Expression Session will be an exhibition format showcase for what is to come this week with the Sunset Beach Pro. Athletes to be featured are: Current World Champion, 18 year old Kai Lenny from Maui, current #3 in the world, France’s Antoine Delpero, current #4 in the world, Oahu’s own Robin Johnston and Brazilian sensation, Leco Salazar. Joining these 4 Tour leaders will be local wildcard Kala Alexander. Join us at Turtle Bay at 10am on Saturday for a taste of what is to come in the unique surroundings of Turtle Bay Resort.

Registration & Welcome At Duke’s Waikiki
It will be then down to town for the registration and meet and greet of the athletes and media at Duke’s Waikiki, from 3pm – 5pm on Saturday. A big Mahalo to Duke’s for their support of our event.

A Big Mahalo To Our Stand Up World Tour Patrons
A big Mahalo goes out to our Gold Patrons, industry members who have stepped up to support the continued development of the Stand Up World Tour and walk hand in hand with us. You will soon find a dedicated ‘Patrons’ page on that will highlight these brands and their involvement with the Tour.

A Big Thank You To Our Other Sponsors
A big Mahalo to our other sponsors of the Sunset Beach Pro, Go Mokulule, Hawaii’s low cost interisland airline, Steinlager, Hawaii’s Beer and our longstanding partner Na Kama Kai, providing invaluable opportunities for Hawaii’s kids.

Poster artwork – Hilton Alves
We are proud to announce that we have developed a long term partnership with North Shore resident, Brazilian Artist Hilton Alves: after his beautiful offering for the Hawaii Island Finals poster, we decided that we would commit to Hilton being the Official Artist for all our events this year, with his goal to capture the spirit and essence of each of the completely different and unique events and locations. We are excited to be working with Hilton this year and he will be present at out event, both painting and competing in the Sunset Beach Pro. Here is his latest offering, the poster for the Sunset Beach Pro.
