Wining, Dining, And Grinding: Redsand Hosts BBQ

Summer’s still officially two weeks away, but the folks at Redsand are already taking advantage of the warmer weather and extra daylight.

Last night (June 6) Redsand kicked off its first in a series of summertime barbecues/skate sessions for its local accounts at the company’s offices in Encinitas, just up the road from Swami’s. North County retailer Surf Ride was Redsand’s first guest.

Redsand’s Troy Carniglia and Robert Lusitana manned the Weber, serving up cheeseburgers and Garden burgers, while team manager Lucas Dalager dominated the company’s five-foot bowl, drawing lines at break-neck speeds and 50-50ing every inch of the ramp. Redsand’s Richard Knight, who recently joined the company after a three-year stint at Nike, also dropped in a few times and snaked his way around the bowl.

But the Surf Ride staff also had skills. Employee Nate Rees spent the majority of the session trying to nail a frontside-ollie-nosepick-180–or something like that. He wasn’t going to leave until he pulled it. Good thing the bowl had lights.

Dalager explained the idea behind the laid-back barbecues: “It’s basically a good way to get to know our accounts. They can come over and just hang out. It’s super fun.”

The barbecues/skate sessions will continue weekly through the end of summer.
