WSA Prime Series To Provide Young Americans Path To The Pros

After years of hard work, Surfing America’s goal of providing a definitive path to becoming a professional surfer to young American’s has come to fruition and was unveiled Sunday evening in San Clemente. Hosted by the WSA’s Greg Cruse, the night’s purpose was to explain to the packed house of young West Coast surfers and industry insiders that if they have a goal of becoming a top surfer it goes through the WSA. One of the ways starts with what the WSA is calling their Prime series; where invited surfers will have ASP judges, 20 minute, four-man heats, and computerized scoring. The Prime series will be the only way for West Coast surfers to get picked for the US and International competition with the ultimate goal of getting surfing into the Olympic games.–Aaron Checkwood/Transworld SURF Photo Editor
