The best skaters in the world have all converged in Long Beach to go head to head in three different competition formats: the rail jam, the bowl contest, and the Team Challenge, which was introduced last year to great success.

One of the highlights of the 2017 competition includes the second annual Team Challenge, made up of nine participating brands: Blind, Plan B, Santa Cruz, Foundation Super Co., Birdhouse, Dark Star, Zero, Flip, and ELement. Each team consists of four pros and one captain leading the charge.

The teams will battle it out in four distinct zones: tech, rail, bowl and gap.

So what’s new for this year’s competition? In terms of what the athletes will be competing on, the Street will consist of tech, rails and gaps, while the bowl will be its own separate competition.

Another key highlight of this year’s competition is the inclusion of Jordyan Barratt in the Bowl qualifiers the only female skater in the lineup.

Thursday starts off the four-day competition event with AM Street Qualifiers and Semifinals, free skate lessons provided by Skate Dogs, and a Community Day, presented by the US Army.

Heading into the rest of the weekend, competition continues with the street and bowl sections, culminating on Sunday with the Pro Bowl and Pro Street finals.
