SIA On-Snow Wraps Up Snow Show

As February 2010 got underway and the first SIA Denver Snow Show wrapped up at the Colorado Convention Center, a massive tent city sprung up at the base of Winter Park as the sky leap frogged between blue bird patches and blustery flurries. The tent city wasn’t the result of a catastrophe, quite the opposite. After four plus days of talking about the sport we all love and have dedicated our lives to, it was time to actually get out on the snow and ride with friends and colleagues to test out the multitudes of new gear raised eyebrows and had retailers ready to write checks.

Thousands of industry members flooded up Highway 40 to take over the village of Winter Park for two full days of free shred, food, and beer, contests, music, and high fives.

While the central Colorado snow pack definitely still leaves a great deal to be desired, and the fact that rocks and bushes are still numerous despite the fact that the calendar belies the fact that it really is February already, retailers and manufacturers alike were stoked to be out and put product through its paces. The tents were mobbed throughout the days as retailers swapped gear incessantly and manufacturers put down the hard sale and let their gear speak for itself.

While trade-show season is a whirlwind, and many are gearing up for several more long weeks of ASR and ispo, brands divided and conquered with reps holding down the fort at Winter Park and Red Bull fueled the attendees into a second week of SIA madness.
