THE FACTS: Front Range skiers and snowboarders can snag discounts ranging from 40-75 off retail on last season's boards, boots, clothing, and accessories at the 19th annual Ski & Snowboard Expo Nov. 5-7 at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. All 25 Colorado resorts will be on site selling season passes and lift tickets and mountain lodging properties will be offering early-bird lodging packages and incentives. New this year: a Biergarten sponsored by Paulaner HP USA with Oktoberfest-style entertainment and a wide selection of imported beers and wines; 30-minute fashion shows every 2-3 hours by WSI Sports to showcase snow sports performance gear and Elite base layers along with featured items from Colorado Ski & Golf; and the Gibbon Slackline for kids—a narrow length of webbing a few inches about the ground creating a twist on the typical tightrope experience that is designed to increase balance and build muscle.
Prize giveaways during the Expo include: free snowcat skiing on Jones Pass from Powder Addiction for three winners; a three day heli skiing trip in the Canadian Rockies from Mica Heli Guides; and $1,000 off a laser vision correction procedure from Beyer Laser Center in Boulder. Also, a trip to Jackson Hole that includes lodging, skiing, and airfare will be given away at the Denver Post booth; and a pair of skis will be raffled off each day at the Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals booth.
VIDEO & PHOTO OPPORTUNITES: The "Eliteam" Training Center, led by Olympian and downhill medalist Doug Lewis is back with its hands-on, interactive, physical-fitness fun area where kids can play, train, and challenge themselves on specialized training apparatus. Also returning to Expo is the MBS Mountainboards Big Air Show where performers on specially adapted skateboards execute a series of high-energy acrobatics with plenty of flipping, spinning, and rail sliding.
Other visual entertainment includes the Keystone Flying Ace All Star trampoline athletes with their stunt-laden performances showcasing the aerial ability of freestyler and three-time Olympian Kris (Fuzz) Feddersen; the unpredictable antics and contests supervised by ringmaster "Uncle E" on Center Stage; and the Breckenridge Kids Slope where kids can try an introductory sliding experience.
Admission is $12 for adults or $10 with a discount coupon available at any Colorado Ski & Golf store or purchased in advance online at www.OnTheSnow.com <http://www.OnTheSnow.com> and kids 12 and under are free.
