Huntington Beach, CA – Southern California’s original and largest oceanfront snowboard rail jam is going co-ed in 2008. Organizers promise that Boardfest’s third annual Blizzard at the Beach will feature more snow, more obstacles and now, world-class male athletes competing alongside the women. Boardfest is to be held over Labor Day Weekend, August 30 to September 1, at the Huntington Beach Pier.

Boardfest’s Blizzard at the Beach will feature an invitation-only field of elite athletes doing battle over two days. With music blaring and the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, competition is held adjacent to the iconic pier on a massive, three-story high platform covered with 50 tons of freshly blown snow. Features and obstacles include a fun box, rails, automobile and quarter-pipe.

The Mountain High Snow Village will feature interactive exhibits, athlete demos, autograph signings, giveaways and live entertainment on the nearby stage. “We’re excited to embrace Boardfest and help ramp up the snowboard rail jam,” said Mountain High ski area’s John McColly. “Including guys in the mix and creating a snow village adds a whole new dimension for spectators and riders alike.”

Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Boardfest weaves surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions, fashion shows, empowerment activities, live bands, an arcade and free attractions. More than 100,000 spectators, primarily tweens, teens and young adults attend over three days.
