Cement Face: How BMX’er Eben Fisher Is Building A Brand Around His Paintbrush

A few months ago a new brand emerged, perhaps you have heard the unique name buzzing around – or better yet, maybe you have seen some of their eye-catching artwork. Either way, Cement Face (CEM Face) has entered into the BMX scene offering a unique blend of art and products catering to the BMX Lifestyle. The brand has kicked things off with a line of softgoods including: t-shirts and hats and also offers a selection of unique art prints. However, this is only the beginning, and there are plans in the works to expand into other areas including its own BMX team.

TransWorld Business was intrigued, and interested in hearing what CEM Face was all about so we touched base with Eben Fisher to get some details.

For those who are unfamiliar, what was your background and experience before launching this apparel brand?
I’m a visual artist with my trade in automotive airbrushing.  I’ve worked with various apparel and bike companies that I’ve been sponsored by in the past, while currently riding and designing artwork for Tree Bicycle Co.

What was the inspiration behind CEM?
Bicycles and visual arts have consumed my life since childhood.  The past nine years I’ve had the opportunity to be part of different bicycle companies while making my income as a visual artist.  CEM is a project to work with friends to combine our passions and contribute to the culture and lifestyle we’re a part of.

How did you come up with the name Cement Face? Is there meaning behind that?
Cement Face just evolved over time and seemed to fit the feel of this project.

What kind of apparel will you be producing?
To get the ball rolling we currently have shirts, hats and art prints.

What are your goals for the brand?
The goal is to create a line of hand crafted artwork that will be printed on soft goods.  CEM is also an art production company that offers commission illustration work and is interested in collaborating with other companies through artwork.

What kind of plans do you have for the growth/future of the brand?
Everyone currently involved with CEM rides BMX so a freestyle team is in progress.  We’ve been filming for some web content and have plenty of artwork in the works.  It’s still in the early stages but product should become more easily available soon.  The website is Cemface.com and anyone interested in buying, selling or commission artwork can contact us at cemface@gmail.com.
