Height of Land Publications (HOL), the parent company of Backcountry, announced today that it will be releasing a new backcountry snowboarding dedicated title this fall called Kronicle.
HOL tapped Backountry Snowboard Editor Mike Horn as the editor in chief of the new publication.
“[HOL] and I have had conversations the last several years about launching a dedicated backcountry snowboard magazine,” explains Crested Butte, Colorado-based Mike Horn. “The energy and drive behind Kronicle really started ramping up this past fall, with the release of films like “Deeper”, increasing numbers of riders in the backcountry, and several new manufacturers stepping in and producing new splitboards, boots, bindings etc for 2011. We feel the interest in backcountry riding has never been higher, and it will continue to grow.”
Horn says that the publication is targeting riders that are into exploring beyond resorts’ slopes using rich story telling. “In the backcountry it’s often as much about the adventure as the turns,” says Horn. “A lot happens in between, just getting there, and getting home. We believe these stories will appeal to a wide range of readers.”
