What are the biggest forces shaping the changes and developments you've made to your boards?
Since the introduction of Nikita Snowboards for FW12-13 where we launched the Nikita Chickita park board and Sideway Sista freestyle board, we've introduced the Expression all-mountain board plus two new design collaborations. They include Little Madi, whose graphics have appeared within Nikita streetwear previously, introducing her incredibly detailed and fantastical characters to the Sideway Sista board and a new collaboration with Tulipop, home to Wobbly, Fred, Skully, Buddha and friends. The magical world of Tulipop is created by celebrated Icelandic illustrator Signy Kolbeinsdottir, named as one of the world's most exciting illustrators by Taschen.
What themes are you seeing for graphics?
A wide range of graphics, fantastical worlds and bright colors that really contrast and pop, plus we think about how it calibrates with our outerwear. At Nikita, we love to work with artists within the collections and have showcased many different collaborations within the streetwear and more recently in the snow collections. With last season's Sideway Sista snowboard we saw graphics by with the hand of AC Bananas and for this season, Little Madi and our Icelandic friends at TULIPOP fit perfectly.
