TransWorld Business is looking for a stellar intern who has lots of great ideas and wants to contribute in a big way to the magazine.
This position is for college credit only, available for the Summer, 2016 semester. Candidates must be a current student able to receive credit for this internship. Candidates must be willing to live, or currently live, in Southern California for the duration of the internship. This position will report directly to the Digital Managing Editor of TransWorld Business Magazine.
TEN: The Enthusiast Network is seeking a Digital Editorial Intern under the TransWorld Business brand out of the Carlsbad, CA office. This position is for college credit only. This is an educational program and candidates must be a current student and able to receive college credit (a letter of proof must be submitted).
TEN: The Enthusiast Network is the world's premier network of enthusiast brands such as MOTOR TREND, AUTOMOBILE, HOT ROD, SURFER, TRANSWORLD, and GRINDTV. It encompasses more than 50 publications, 60 websites, 50 events, 1,000 branded products, the world's largest automotive VOD channel, and the world's largest action/outdoor sports media platform.
As an integrated member of a dynamic and collaborative team, this position will have the opportunity to shadow professionals, work under an appointed mentor, and experience on-the-job training to assist in increasing the understanding of how their department operates, and provide a mutually rewarding experience. The ideal candidate is energetic with a desire to learn in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This position will learn and participate in the following:
- Field, create, and ultimately publish breaking news and information on our website, TransworldBusiness.com.
- Work on long-term research and writing projects such as 30 Shops in 30 Days, in-depth feature stories on athletes, professionals, and industry trends, and The State Of Action Sports.
Upon the internship's completion the intern will have working knowledge of:
- Online writing
- Social media strategy
- Research using tools like Google Analytics and Facebook Insights
- Project lifecycle
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited program related to field of internship interest.
Must be able to receive college credit for this internship.
Must have experience in writing, samples are requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work in both team and individual environments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Time management and organization skills.
Ability to maintain confidence and handle confidential information.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Familiar with Action Sports.
Knowledge or background in journalism, business, or related fields.
Added bonus if you have photo and video editing skills; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and view a computer screen
Must be able to use computer/keyboard
Adobe Photoshop or Canva
Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
Work is performed during regular business hours of the work week (Monday through Friday).
