Skateboarding and music share a deep and meaningful history and on November 13, these two worlds are set to collide head on as World renowned skateboarding hero MIKE VALLELY (pronounced VAL-ə-lee; also known as MIKE V) has announced plans for the first annual "GLORY BOUND FESTIVAL"; set to take place on Saturday, November 13 at Los Angeles' legendary Hollywood Palladium. Presented by KROQ & RADD / My Safe Ride Home (MSRH) and promising "A sensational day of live and loud music and hard and fast skateboarding," the mega event will merge "legends of skateboarding" with "legends of punk rock" and will also feature some of Los Angeles' best food trucks to make the "Glory Bound Fest" an event like none other. The official "Glory Bound Festival" admat can be viewed at this location and advance tickets to the event can be purchased by visiting LiveNation.com.
Named for and curated by MIKE V — the iconic ambassador of skateboarding – the Glory Bound Festival will feature an outdoor professional skateboarding All Star jam, dubbed "The Legends Jam," which will spotlight some of the most esteemed and groundbreaking professional skaters of all time. The show will take place on a custom made 40 foot wide, six foot high mini ramp.
Already confirmed to appear as part of the "Glory Bound Festival" is one of the original "Z-Boys", Tony Alva, a legendary member of the world famous "Bones Brigade", Steve Caballero and celebrated skate heroes Christian Hosoi and Lance Mountain, all of whom will join MIKE V for an unequaled show of skateboarding prowess that is sure to live in infamy. Today, MIKE V announces the addition of more skate pioneers to the legends jam including 70’s World Champion Dave Hackett, famed hardcore punk rock skater Steve Olson, Salba (Steve Alba), Eddie Reategui, “the voice of World Cup Skateboarding” Dave Duncan, lip trick technician Ben Schroeder, Chris ‘Dune’ Pastras and boardslide Champion Jeff Grosso.
The skateboarding portion of the "Glory Bound Festival" will be immediately followed by a live concert headlined by seminal west coast punk band PENNYWISE. Joining PENNYWISE at the event will be celebrated Chicago punk band ALKALINE TRIO, Arizona-based punk rock stalwarts AUTHORITY ZERO, SoCal's NATIONS AFIRE and the host himself – MIKE V — performing with his band REVOLUTION MOTHER.
Additionally, a special festival "vendor village" replete with a number of LA's famous food trucks will flank the exhibition. The gourmet cavalcade will feature the "Great Food, Fun, Film and Flair" of The Greasy Wiener (www.thegreasywiener.com <http://www.thegreasywiener.com> ), former Bottega Louie chef Chris Goossen's Knock Out Taco Truck (www.kotacotruck.com <http://www.kotacotruck.com> ) and the global flavors and "mobile entertainment system" of the VIZZI Truck (www.vizzitruck.com <http://www.vizzitruck.com> ) as well as other fine fare.
“I’ve always thought that a skate and music festival could be done better than any of the events I’ve ever attended or participated in," commented VALLELY. "Instead of the music or skating being secondary to the other, I think it’s important to give both arts their own time and respect. With the "Glory Bound Festival" I aim to get it right once and for all. By including the World's most legendary skaters for a one hour jam and also today's top punk bands, this event is rooted deep in both culture and substance. The "Glory Bound Festival" isn’t about chasing the flavor of the month, but instead creating a forum for bands and skaters with real style, attitude and originality to shine. Having Pennywise and Alkaline Trio play after watching Tony Alva and Steve Caballero skate, I just don’t think it gets any better than that," he continues. "Not only is this an event that speaks to teenagers, I think it’s also a generational event where moms and dads can bring the kids out and show them how it’s really done.”

About MIKE V:
MIKE VALLELY is a self-made, internationally recognized, multi-talented star. One of the most recognizable pro skateboarders on the planet today, MIKE V has earned a cross-cultural fan base and generated his own style of creative and aggressive skating that has set him apart, both as an athlete and as a personality. In addition to his two decade plus career as a professional skateboarder, MIKE V is also a musician, actor, television personality and professional stuntman. VALLELY's acting talents and stunt work were featured in the hit movie 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop' and the record-breaking film 'The Hangover'. In 2010, the World-Renowned skateboarder signed with the Danbury (CT) Whalers of New Federal Hockey League, becoming the first professional board sport athlete to pursue a traditional team sport on a competitive level and the oldest rookie, at age 40, to seek a roster spot in professional hockey.
A thriving, ground-breaking punk rock band for over 20 years, the Hermosa Beach group has seen members come and go but it's relentless, in-your-face, middle finger in the air, anthem-chanting sound has never wavered one iota. After getting their start in 1988, Pennywise would go on to build a nationwide following through relentless touring. A no nonsense band best-known for its pounding rant "Fuck Authority," searing soul-searcher "Alien" and its ode to brotherhood, "Bro Hymn," an autobiographical song that pays tribute to its founding bass player, Jason Thirsk, after his tragic death in 1996. The band recently enjoyed its most significant success to date, with their top 20 single, "The Western World" which dominated at KROQ 106.7, L.A.'s No. 1 modern rock station. Most recently, Ignite vocalist Zoli Teglas joined the Pennywise fold replacing the band's former vocalist Jim Lindberg. Teglas, a longtime friend and tour mate, made his Pennywise debut playing a handful of local shows including the 2009 Smokeout Festival and a sold out Holiday Benefit concert for Amnesty International at Long Beach Arena. With a brash new chapter of the band's story unfolding before our very eyes, a new record is in the works, as are a U.S. and overseas tours. Pennywise doesn't play by the rules, it plows straight ahead and makes its own.
