Shareablee reports sports media brands see 74 percent growth in engagement year over year
Shareablee, the top social media benchmarking and audience analysis firm that partners with many of the leading sports media companies released the February 2016 ranking of the Top 10 socially engaged sports media companies. ESPN, Bleacher Report, and FOX Sports dominated the Top 10, but there were also some surprise contenders that made their way into the rankings.
Shareablee’s ranking includes all sports-related media properties’ main flagship pages and ancillary pages, and reflects a total of 301 million social actions across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, excluding views. This was a 74 percent year over year growth, driven by a 261 percent growth on Instagram. With video at the forefront of many sport’s media yearly initiatives, we can only expect growth to increase. Sports media brands represented 4 percent of all social actions taken on content published by U.S. brands in February.

i Total actions metric includes the total volume of post-level likes, shares, retweets, and comments for all properties under each brand across platforms.
ii Total content includes all posts, tweets, media and YouTube videos posted by all properties under each brand across platforms.
iii “Actions to fans index” is calculated as the total number of actions taken on all posts made by properties under the sports media in the time period, divided by the total fan count of all properties under the brand. This value is then set as an index against all U.S. Sports Media brands.
iv Percent of Engagement from video metric is the percentage of total actions that were brought in by video posts and tweets across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
