TransWorld SURF is proud to support its very own photographer Aaron Checkwood as he releases his first-ever limited edition book, “My Oceanside.” Spending his summers as a child in Oceanside, California and graduating from El Camino High School, Checkwood created “My Oceanside” as a tribute to the city, which is full of diverse culture, beautiful landscapes, and his own personal lifetime memories.
To celebrate the release of this limited edition book, an exclusive exhibit will debut at the California Surf Museum in Oceanside, California on June 29, 2012 and run through September 4. The opening party on June 29 from 7:00 p.m – 10:00 p.m. will feature a photo exhibit of framed images from the book, select hand-screened posters, and a limited amount of author signed books available for purchase. The event is proudly sponsored by TransWorld SURF, Brixton, Raen, Chemistry Surfboards, Kona Beer, vitaminwater and Daphne’s Greek Cafe. All proceeds from the opening party will benefit the California Surf Museum.
“The exhibit is just a snippet of the daily life of a vibrant, eclectic area that stands as the last bastion between San Diego County and the rest of the world,” comments Checkwood.
Be sure to get a copy of “My Oceanside” and check out the exhibit at the California Surf Museum Exhibit Hall at 312 Pier View Way, Oceanside, California. If you cannot make the opening party on June 29, the California Surf Museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is closed on major holidays and for special events. Admission is free to CSM members and kids 12 and under. Tuesdays are free to the public, otherwise it is $5 for general public and $3 for students/military/seniors. The California Surf Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supported by memberships, donations, and proceeds from the museum store and special fundraising events.
