In conjunction with its 25th birthday this season, etnies unveiled its spring line of shoes and apparel in New York City last week, and TW Biz had a chance to preview the line and get the low down from PR Manager Ashton Maxfield on what’s hot and new for Spring 2011.
The main highlight of this season's collection is etnies new Eco Collection. Do you ever wonder where old worn-out bike tires, used rubber gloves, and plastic bottles go to die? etnies is reincarnating them into RVS, Senix Mid LX, Jameson 2, Jameson 2 Mid and Taylor LS skate shoes. Bike tires and rubber gloves are recycled to create the shoes' outsole, and plastic bottles are used in the making of their PET shoe laces. They look cool, wont' break the bank, and skaters can gain bragging rights on helping the environment.
The new men's shoes are poppy and fun, with light prints and subtle textures. As always, the line was created with tech and rider enhanced ideas and tweaks in mind, and features new additions that work for both the street and the office, like the new men's Portsmith shoe.
For women, etnies’ new line of shoes are fun, sexy, and versatile as a collection with an even balance of casual and street. The casual shoes are fun for the beach or for the office, showing off a bit of maturity.
Etnies new apparel collection continues to grow and mature, tailoring jeans and adding "grown-up" jackets and button downs for the skater that is all grown up but refuses to shop anywhere else.
All in all, the spring season looks bountiful and very sharp for etnies and its customers.
