Squaw Valley Cancels Fireworks Show

Squaw Valley USA Due to extremely dry conditions and in the best interestof safety and fire prevention, Squaw Valley USA has canceled their annualIndependence Day Fireworks Show at High Camp on Wednesday July 4, 2001.

“We apologize for any inconvenience, as we understand that the uppermountain fireworks show is a summer highlight for many people,” explainedEric Brandt, Squaw Valley Ski Corp. Marketing Director. “Given the currentdry conditions we decided that it is in the best interest of our naturalenvironment not to take any chances and we look forward to hosting anothergreat fireworks show next year.”

Although the fireworks have been canceled, Squaw Valley still offers aunique way to celebrate the 4th. The Cable Car and High Camp will be inoperation until 9pm. Daily activities at the resort include ice skating,swimming, tennis, hiking, mountain biking, wall climbing, restaurants, bars,spectacular views and the new nightly Star Safaris stargazing programs.
