Mark your calendars: Chris Coté will be leading a discussion on journalism in action and adventure sports Friday, May 12, at TEN: The Enthusiast Network’s Carlsbad headquarters.
“What to Know for a Career in Action Sports” is being offered as a resource to college students and recent graduates who are looking to pursue a job within this space. The event be held in the Skate Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch provided by our friends at Banzai Bowls.
To kick off our “Meet the Speaker” info, we want you to get to know Chris Coté, in the highly unlikely chance you haven’t already.
As one of the founding editors of TransWorld SURF, Coté has been a formative, inspirational, entertaining, and at times slightly controversial voice shaping the surf industry for many years.
Always one to have his hands in many projects, Coté has been building his own media hub for the past four years, and recently released a new podcast series that digs into the characters behind surfing, action sports, and music, among other topics. We asked him a couple questions leading up to our May 12th event.
Your current gig: I started Coté Media Group almost four years ago as a hub for all of my personal media endeavors, including action sports commentary for Vans, Red Bull, WSL, Dew Tour, etc., my magazine work (Encinitas Magazine), podcasting and online content creation through Yew Media, as well as consulting, social media services, music supervision, brand development, and live event hosting.
