My Bear Mountain: With Burton and Videograss star Zak Hale

Big Bear Lake, California, may be one small mountain town, but it offers plenty of fun and entertainment for all to enjoy. Zak Hale has spent his life in this town, ripping up Bear Mountain when he’s not off filming with Burton or Videograss. He’s garnered much respect lapping one of the most prestigious terrain parks around, largely because of his flawless, street-inspired riding style. And although he may still don a baby face, his snowboarding speaks far past his years. Here are a few of his favorite places and things at Bear Mountain:

Best spot to grab food or drink at the hill: The grill on the Beach Sundeck always serves the best burgers, and you can enjoy the Southern California weather while watching all your friends shred down the hill or hit the park features in The Scene.

Spot to ride on a powder day: Take up the Express chair and hike over on the other side of Outlaw. That’s a good little secret for some amazing powder slashes.

Place to grab dinner with the family: Get The Burger or El Jacalito for delicious food and a laid-back vibe.

Favorite thing to do on a down day: That would definitely be snowshoeing, or if it’s in the spring go on the lake and enjoy the awesome weather.

Place to grab breakfast: Grizzly Manor is for sure the absolute best for some hearty and delicious breakfast food before strapping on your board.
