A Sheriff's deputy on patrol during the early morning hours in Solvang, California, happened upon a scene you don't see every day. A mountain lion was chasing a deer across a residential street.
The deer frantically ran across the road twice with the mountain lion on its heel, and Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Mitigation Deputy Shae Green captured the unique footage on her dash cam, as reported by KSBY and KEYT:
Fortunately for the deer, the third time it crossed the road it seemed like the mountain lion was gone, probably spooked by the deputy’s spotlight.
The incident occurred Sunday in the town that is located northwest of Santa Barbara and is near the Los Padres National Forest. The video was posted Thursday afternoon on the Chumash Reservation Community Resource Deputy and Mitigation Deputy Facebook page.
"That deer lived to see another morning, and the mountain lion remains hungry," the post read.
