Wild giraffe chases terrified tourists in South Africa

In what has been described as reminiscent of the T-Rex chase scene in "Jurassic Park," tourists in South Africa found themselves in a horrifying chase scene of their own when a wild giraffe took off after their touring jeep. The giraffe was relentless in its pursuit, chasing the frightened tourists around trees. Henk Roos captured video of the harrowing chase on his phone. Watch and notice the frantic look on the woman's face (Warning: There's a couple of expletives near the end):

It reminded us of the jeep safari in South Africa earlier this year, when a giraffe suddenly turned aggressive and charged the jeep, actually bumping the vehicle. What this shows is that giraffes aren't always the gentile giants they appear to be.

Roos described the encounter under his YouTube post:

After an amazing wedding we went on a game drive and a hormonal Giraffe started to chase our Jeep. After about 5K of being chased, I started recording the chase on my phone. You can see how he gets closer and closer after every turn. We started to run out of road and the ranger banged on the side of the jeep to scare him off. We started to make a noise and he stopped.

Just in time as we had to make a four-point turn to continue on the road!

Imagine, the giraffe had already been chasing them for 3 miles before Roos began videotaping the chase.

Whew! Definitely a close call.
